I came into government with a clear conscience and I will also leave with a clear conscience-Buhari to Igbo leaders. Speaking in a meeting with Igbo leaders, President Mohammadu Buhari reacted to the rumour that Eastern Nigeria is being marginalized by his administration.

President Buhari, also made the Igbo leaders know that Seven States in the North have Ministers of state in his cabinet while two Igbo sons are important ministers heading the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Trade and Investments.
In his statement, Buhari said;

“Seven states in the North got Ministers of State and of the two Ministries headed by your sons, I cannot take any decision on foreign policy and investments without their input. I want to assure that we are doing our best for the country. If we can stop people from stealing, then there will be more resources to put into projects that will create employment for Nigerians. I want to assure you that I came into government with a clear conscience and I will also leave with a clear conscience.”

According to online reports, President Buhari assured Igbo leaders that South-East region will receive more attention in the construction of more roads and coastal projects. The president added that his administration is giving more attention to Second Niger Bridge, the East-West Road, and the coastal rail projects.

The Igbo leaders also demand that the President should look into State creation in the region, Enugu Airport, South-East Projects, standard gauge plan for railway construction amongst others.
